PAMELA PHILLIPS
Pamela Phillips is mainly known for being a figurative painter. An underlying botanical dialogue and exploration weaves its way throughout each drawing or painting that she does, expressing the core message that man and nature must coexist as kindred spirits.
Phillips uses the figure as a vehicle to convey her deep connection to nature and spirituality.
The eco-spirituality movement that continues today has greatly inspired and guided her work over the years. Books, poetry and travel influence the work as well, often conveyed through color and text that translate the feeling of a place she has previously traveled to.
Phillips’ work has been exhibited over the years in numerous group and solo exhibitions here on the East Coast, as well as in Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Nepal.
Many paintings and drawings are included in numerous private and public collections including the Inter-American Development Bank, Washington DC, The Health Insurance Association of America, Washington DC, The Lockheed-Martin Corporation, Bethesda, MD, The Maryland Artists Collection of the University of Maryland and also in the permanent collection of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Kathmandu, Nepal. Pamela Phillips has a BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD.
